Bluesy makes the days go faster while we wait for the baby to come. Ma, Daddy, and I sit and listen to him play those gems. His saxophone drips notes that float through the air and hug us together. They make me wonder what will happen when the baby is born, and the day after, and the day after that. I can’t wait!
Thirteen year-old Emma Kallok made a pretty good job writting this book! This is the story of a little mixed race girl waiting patiently for the arrival of her baby brother or sister. I liked the bound between the family members and the saxophonist neighbour, and especially between the main caracter and her father (who happens to be black). Jazz runs through the story, making a nice musical background and feel to the book. Beautifully written, with great emphasis on certain words using a different police, this book was a pleasure to read through. The illustrations were wonderful as well, with the text laying out nicely among and around them. A must-read.
